Zero doubt about zero emission
The future runs electric – electricity is undisputedly the best drive energy. E-mobility will make a significant contribution to achieving the climate goals. Who considers himself a part of the solution and not the problem, should now switch to e-mobility. In addition to the above mentioned sustainability, there are two additional economic key elements for going electric.
Comparable in purchase
Due to ever-increasing numbers and falling costs of battery production, the prices for e-cars have dropped significantly in recent years. The Dacia Spring with an electric range of 230 to 305 kilometers for example is available for less than 20.000 €. Substantial «eco bonuses» can be deducted, depending on the country of purchase. E-cars are available in the same price segment as gasoline-powered cars. The electric VW ID.3 «Pro Performance Life» costs only about 1000 € more than the VW Golf 1.5 eTSI DSG Style with a combustion engine.
Significant difference in operating costs
In terms of operating costs, the e-car has clear advantages over the gasoline-powered car. In the case of the Golf with a combustion engine, annual mileage of 15000 kilometers at a standard consumption of 6.0 l / 100 km requires 900 liters of petrol. With an average petrol price of 1 Euro 60, this results in Euro 1440. The standard consumption of the VW ID.3 is 19.4 kWh / 100 km. At 15000 annual kilometers, that adds up to 2.91 megawatt-hours. At the current average electricity price of 30 cents / kWh, that means electricity costs of less than Euro 900. Let’s not forget the maintenance costs. In general, the drive of an e-car is much simpler than that of a car powered by a combustion engine – it only comprises about a tenth of the parts. Some industrial electric motors have been in use for decades, with practically no maintenance.
E-cars – cheaper by the meter
Battery prices and thus the prices for e-cars will further drop over the coming years. With it’s lifespan the electric motor is hundreds of thousands of kilometers ahead of the combustion engine. The difference in purchase price – an e-car is still slightly more expensive today – is amortized in a short time via cheaper fuel. The longer you drive an e-car, the cheaper it runs. And one last argument to the end: The resale values of e-cars are significantly higher than those of gasoline-powered vehicles.
