How e-Cars Now Plant Trees?
We have written many times how air pollution is considered among the deadliest health issues we face today. You know that trees have a fundamental function in our ecosystem. We need to do something but most of us don’t know what or don’t want to jeopardize our lifestyle. We at WATTMOBIL.COM want to not only help you switch to electric mobility, find the most suitable car and support you in the process, but have an even bigger positive impact. So, here’s how e-cars now plant trees.
Cleaner Transport
Reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector is an important milestone. The industry is growing and with it are the greenhouse gases (GHG). By 2050 the global vehicle fleet is expected to double – 90% of this prediction is expected in low and middle-income countries. To achieve a cleaner transport sector, the United Nations environment program has listed a combination of measures, among those cleaner and more efficient on-road fleets, including electric vehicles. Over a quarter of the GHG emissions worldwide are produced by transport dependent on fossil fuels.
Responsible Forestry
Deforestation destroys vegetation that is important for removing carbon dioxide from the air. Moreover, it causes GHG emissions to increase faster. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, deforestation is the second most important cause of climate change. Forests provide habitat for animals and livelihoods for people. In addition, they protect watersheds, prevent soil erosion, and indeed mitigate climate change. Yet despite our dependence on forests, we are allowing them to disappear. Our survival depends on forests, from the air we breathe to the wood we use. Furthermore, forests host 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. They provide the livelihoods for many different human settlements, including 60 million indigenous peoples.
